Donations

Donations have always been a way of life for most fire departments. Since the 1800s, communities have come together to raise money to fund their fire protection. Bake sales, BBQs, raffles and other fund raisers are still a main source of revenue for thousands of small fire departments across America today.

Our most valuable donation is the time and effort our unpaid volunteers give to our community. Without them we would not have fire protection. Our small community simply can not afford the services these brave men and women donate.

But even the bravest volunteer firefighter must have tools to work with. Protection equipment for just one firefighter is over $1,000.00 and climbing. A modern fire engine costs over $250,000.00 and requires fuel, tires, and  maintenance to ensure it's ready when needed. With diesel prices nearing $3.00 per gallon, our budgets are strained.

Rest assured we are doing everything in our power to keep your tax burden as small as possible. Accepting donations is another way we accomplishing this. Donations to Huffman Volunteer Fire Department are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
